Description

The Pelham is a 31cm tall pillar candle holder hand-hammered from solid aluminium, finished in matt black with brushed nickel tonal variation showing through the surface ripples. The vertical fluting runs the full height of the column and the top flares into a shallow petal-shaped dish designed to hold pillar candles up to 7cm in diameter.

Designed for dining tables, sideboards and console tables where a taller vertical accent is needed, the Pelham works well in pairs flanking a centrepiece or as a standalone feature at the end of a mantelpiece. The 31cm height raises the candle flame above typical low table surfaces, making it suitable for use alongside flowers or other table decorations without visual clash. The matt black finish absorbs light during the day and reflects candlelight softly when the room is darker.

Each piece is hand-hammered using traditional metalworking methods, so the exact pattern and depth of the ripples varies between individual holders. The brushed nickel tones beneath the black finish show through more prominently on the raised ridges of the hammered texture, giving a two-tone effect that becomes more visible under direct light. At 0.44kg the holder has enough weight to remain stable under typical use but can still be moved easily for table rearrangement.

What size candle does it hold?

The petal-shaped dish at the top is designed for pillar candles up to 7cm in diameter. Standard pillar candles of 5-7cm width fit comfortably in the recess. Taper candles or smaller tea lights will not sit securely in the dish.

Is the hammered texture identical on every piece?

No. Each Pelham holder is hand-hammered using traditional methods, so the depth, spacing and exact pattern of the ripples differs between pieces. This is a characteristic of hand-made metalwork, not a defect.

Can the finish be polished?

The matt black finish with brushed nickel tones is applied during manufacture and is not intended to be polished. Polishing would remove the finish and expose the bare aluminium beneath. For cleaning, wipe with a dry or barely-damp soft cloth.

Is a smaller version available?
