Pawi Mango Wood Breakfast Tray - Natural

The Pawi is a shallow rectangular tray in mango wood, 53cm across and 30cm from front to back, with four straight sides, plain butt-jointed corners and a flat base. A leg folds out at each end to lift it clear of whatever it stands on, and folds back under the base when it is not wanted. The wood carries no applied colour, so the grain reads in bands of lighter and darker tone across the face of each side.

Standing on its legs it spans a bed, and it takes two cups on saucers, a plate and two small bowls at once. It takes a dinner plate or a side plate with a glass and a mug beside it. With the legs folded it lies flat and carries the same load from the kitchen to the table, or sits on an ottoman as a firm surface for glasses. Outdoors it gives a picnic rug the same bit of height.

The tray is mango wood throughout, legs included, and it is food safe. Each one is made by hand, so the tone varies from tray to tray and no two carry the same grain. The Pawi range also runs to a round tray of 46cm and a rectangular one of 46 x 31cm.

Do the legs fold?

Yes. There is a leg at each end and both fold flat under the base, so the tray stores and carries flat and stands up when it is wanted.

How do I look after it?

Wash it in warm soapy water, then rinse and dry it straight away rather than leaving it standing wet. An edible oil such as olive or walnut rubbed into the surface with a cloth will feed and protect the wood, though it will darken the tone. Mango wood shifts in colour a little with age.
