Description

The Overlay S25 Cognac Glass is a tiered pendant light, with three stacked, cone-shaped tiers set one above another over a cognac glass shade. It measures 26.5cm across and the shade is 14.2cm tall, a compact size that still gives a table a clear focal point. It comes in two finishes, Beige & Copper or Yellow & Grey & Beige, so it can sit quietly against pale walls or bring a warmer note of colour to the room. It takes one G9 bulb of up to 4W, which is not included and is sold separately; choose a G9 bulb of 4W or less.

We think it belongs in a dining room, hung over a round or square table where its 26.5cm width sits in proportion, and it suits a living room just as well, over a coffee table or beside a favourite chair. The canopy is 10cm across and 4.5cm deep, and the pendant hangs with a drop of up to 200cm, so you can set it low over a table or higher in a room with a tall ceiling. Over a longer table, two or three in a row look balanced along its length. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The design is by e27, Tim Brauns. Each tier partly overlaps the one beneath it and has a narrow slot cut into it, a detail that gives the tiered shade its layered look. It runs on mains power and is wired in by a qualified electrician. It is not dimmable, so it belongs on a standard on and off switch rather than a dimmer. A practical note before the day it goes up: have its G9 bulb ready, so the pendant can be switched on as soon as it is hung. Our photographs show the beige & copper version.
