Description

A garden bench 180cm long and 46.5cm high, with a seat of reclaimed teak slats laid across two flat iron legs. The slats are set with a narrow gap between each one and shift in tone from grey to warm brown along the length, and each carries the cracks and marks it came with. The legs are single lengths of iron folded into a U and wrapped round the ends of the seat.

At 180cm the bench runs the length of one side of a dining table, and it stands at an outdoor table on a terrace. 46.5cm is a sitting height and 38.5cm is a shallow depth, so it also stands on its own against a courtyard wall or beside a door without taking much of the paving. It is listed as suitable for outdoor use, and the iron legs are powder coated rather than painted. The Oso range also runs to a dining table in two sizes.

The seat is reclaimed teak and the legs are iron, powder coated to a harder surface than conventional paint. Because the timber is reclaimed, every bench carries a different set of marks, and the colour and the depth of the weathering differ from slat to slat. No two are the same.

Frequently Asked

Can it be left outside?

Yes. It is listed as suitable for outdoor use and the iron legs are powder coated for the garden. Covering it or storing it over the winter will prolong its life.

How long is it?

180cm long, 38.5cm deep and 46.5cm high. The Oso bench is also made at 220cm.

Will every bench look the same?

Not exactly. The timber is reclaimed teak, so the cracks, the marks and the weathering vary from bench to bench and no two are alike.

Does the wood need treating?

No. Teak is a hardwood and durable enough that it does not need the regular preservative a softwood would. A little teak oil or a water based wood stain will hold its original appearance where that is wanted.

How should it be looked after?

Wipe it down with a dry cloth every few months so that moisture does not build up. For a deeper wash, a little washing up liquid, warm water and a soft bristle brush are enough, and a hose on spray will rinse it. Never use a pressure washer, which strips the timber, and let it dry out fully afterwards, which is best done on a bright day.
