Description

This is a 45 x 45cm square cushion woven from 65% jute and 35% cotton, and the two fibres are what give it its character. Bands of natural jute run in fine stripes across the face, spaced by rows of woven cotton, so the surface is textured rather than flat. Jute is a coarse, strong plant fibre with a warm sandy tone and a slightly hairy finish; cotton is soft and smooth. Set side by side in this striped weave, they read as ridge after ridge of colour and texture, the tan of the jute against the pale cream of the cotton.

A 45cm square is the standard cushion size, which makes this an easy one to place. It sits well on a sofa, a reading chair or the end of a bed, and it pairs naturally with other neutral and earthy textiles rather than fighting them.
