Description

The Ombra is a long, slim LED pendant light: an off-white cylindrical diffuser 165.2cm long and 7cm across, hung beneath a narrow top rail on two fine wires. The light source is integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It draws 35W and gives 1589lm at a warm 2700K, with a CRI of 90, so food, faces and timber look true to life. The light passes softly through the diffuser rather than throwing a hard glare across the room. The rail comes in a choice of two finishes, Matt Black or Brushed Brass.

We like the Ombra over a long dining table, where one linear pendant lights the full run of the table instead of a cluster of separate shades, and two in a line suit a longer table or a larger room. It sits just as well in a living room, over a sideboard or a seating area, where you want an even, restful glow rather than a bright central light. With a drop of up to 300cm, there is length enough for a tall ceiling as well as a standard one. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

The Ombra is a mains fitting, wired in at 230V, and a qualified electrician should install it. It dims by DALI or push dimming, so it needs a compatible DALI or push control; on the right set-up you can bring it down to a low, gentle level for a long supper. At the ceiling, the canopy is a neat 5.5cm across. Choose the finish to suit the room: Matt Black reads crisp and graphic against pale walls, while Brushed Brass brings a warmer tone beside darker woods.
