Description

Ollia is a stoneware vase with a shape all its own: a slim upright neck rises on one side, a deep notch is cut into the other, and the whole piece stands on two short feet with an arch between them. It is 20cm tall, 18.5cm long and 10cm wide, so it reads like a small sculpture from the front and stays slim enough for a narrow shelf. The surface is a glossy, rippled black, broken by rough, textured patches that give each face its own pattern. At 0.846KG it has real weight in the hand.

The opening sits at the top of the neck, which suits a few dried branches, a single stem or a sprig of grasses rather than a full bunch. We like it on a sideboard or a console table, where its stepped outline shows in full, or on a bookshelf beside a row of spines.
