Description

The Noren S/72 is a fabric LED pendant light made as one tall, gently curved panel. The light grey shade is 120cm tall, 72cm wide and 17cm deep, and it hangs on two fine wires from a slim black ceiling canopy. Its panel combines sound-absorbing foam with a thermoplastic fabric, so as well as giving light it helps soften noise in the room. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change, and it gives a warm 3000K white with a CRI of 95 for true, natural colour. It comes in two versions: direct, which lights downwards, or direct and indirect, which also sends light up to the ceiling. Depending on the version, it draws 14.4W or 21.4W and gives 500lm or 764lm.

We suggest it for dining rooms and living rooms, where hard floors and bare walls can leave a room sounding loud. Over a dining table, it lights the table from above while its fabric face takes the edge off the chatter of a meal; in a living room, it brings soft light and a quieter feel to a seating area. The drop runs from 170cm to 420cm, so it suits standard ceilings and high ones alike. It is rated IP20, which means it is for dry indoor rooms only. It is DALI dimmable, so it dims through a compatible DALI control.

It is made from aluminium, sound-absorbing foam, thermoplastic fabric and MDF, with the light grey panel set against a black structure and canopy. The design is by Estudi Manel Molina. The canopy measures 75cm by 6cm and is 4cm high. It runs on mains power and is wired in by a qualified electrician, so plan its position over the table or seating before the ceiling work begins.
