Description

The Noren S/123 is a long fabric pendant light: a shallow oval panel in Terracotta that hangs on two fine wires from a slim black ceiling canopy. The shade is 123cm wide, 35cm tall and 18cm deep, and the canopy measures 126cm. Inside sits an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. The light is a warm 3000K with a CRI of 95, which keeps food, wood and fabric looking true to colour. It comes in two versions, Direct, and Direct and indirect: the first lights downwards, and the second adds indirect light to that. Depending on the version, it draws 15.3W or 22.3W and gives 427lm or 739lm.

We see it over a long dining table, where its width follows the length of the table and the light falls where you eat. It also works in a living room above a sofa or a reading corner. The drop adjusts from 85cm to 335cm, so it can hang low over a table or hang higher in a room with a tall ceiling. The panel combines sound-absorbing foam with its fabric, which helps soften the echo of a room with hard floors and bare walls. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only.

It is built from aluminium, sound-absorbing foam, a fire-resistant thermoplastic fabric and MDF, with the black canopy and the Terracotta shade making the finish. The design is by Estudi Manel Molina. It runs on the mains and is wired in by a qualified electrician. It is a Class I fitting, so it needs an earth connection. It dims on a DALI control system, so plan that with your electrician before installation. Decide on the drop at the same time, so the panel hangs at the height your table or seating needs.
