Description

The Noren S/123 is a long fabric LED pendant light. Its single gently curved panel is 123cm wide and 35cm tall with a projection of 18cm. The panel is dark grey fabric on a black structure and hangs on two fine cables from a ceiling canopy 126cm across. The light source is an integrated LED, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It gives a warm 3000K white with a CRI of 95, which keeps food, wood and skin tones looking true. It comes in two versions: direct, with light falling from beneath the panel, or direct and indirect, which also sends light upward. Depending on the version, it draws 15.3W or 22.3W and gives 423lm or 731lm.

We would hang it over a dining table, where its length follows the table, or across a living room. Its drop of 85cm to 335cm suits a standard or a high ceiling. The panel includes a sound-absorbing foam, so as well as lighting the room it helps take the edge off chatter and echo where floors, walls and glass are hard. It dims on DALI, so it needs a DALI control system rather than an ordinary wall dimmer. It is rated IP20, which makes it a fitting for dry rooms indoors.

The Noren S/123 was designed by Estudi Manel Molina. It is made from aluminium, MDF, sound-absorbing foam and a thermoplastic fabric. The black structure and dark grey shade sit well in a room of warm timber or of pale walls. It is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician and runs at 277V DC. Before you order, measure from the ceiling to the table top so you know the drop you want.
