Description

The Noren S/100 is a pendant light built around a single flat fabric disc, 100cm across, in a warm terracotta beneath a black canopy. The disc hangs on two fine wires, and its integrated LED sits within the disc, so there is no bulb to buy or change. It comes in two versions: direct light, or direct and indirect light together. Depending on the version you choose, it draws 14.4W or 21.4W and gives 254lm or 470lm, always at a warm 3000K with a CRI of 95, so wood, fabric and faces look natural under it.

With a drop of between 150cm and 400cm, the disc is made for rooms with good ceiling height. We like it hung over a dining table, where its warm light falls across the table and the disc reads as a bold circle of colour. It also works in a living room as one large, soft shape. The terracotta fabric gives a warm, matt texture that sits well with timber, plaster and natural stone. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry indoor rooms only. It dims through DALI, so it needs a compatible DALI dimming control.

The disc combines aluminium and MDF with sound-absorbing foam and a thermoplastic fabric, so as well as lighting a room it helps take the edge off echo where floors and walls are hard. The design is by Estudi Manel Molina, and its plain round form keeps the attention on colour and light. It runs on mains power and is wired in to the mains by a qualified electrician. Before you order, measure your ceiling height against the drop of 150cm to 400cm, and plan for DALI controls in the room if you want to dim it.
