Description

The Nirvi sideboard is 126cm wide and 84cm tall, a solid mango wood carcass fronted by two glazed doors set into slim iron frames. Each door carries a single pane of glass and a small iron handle, and the two meet in the middle. Inside, one shelf runs the full width and divides the space into two levels. The whole cabinet stands on an iron plinth base with short square feet, and the iron is finished dark against the pale, strongly figured wood.

At 126cm wide and 45cm deep it takes a hallway wall, the long side of a dining room or the space behind a sofa, and the top sits 84cm from the floor, close to kitchen worktop height, so it is a surface to work at standing up. Because the doors are glazed, whatever goes inside is on show: this is a cabinet for stacked bowls, glasses and folded linen rather than for putting things out of sight. It weighs 53.8kg empty.

The carcass, the top and the shelf are mango wood, cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, and the frame, the door surrounds and the base are iron, treated to a dark, timeworn patina. The boards are strongly figured and each one differs, so the grain across the top and the back never repeats. The Nirvi range also holds a cabinet and a tall cabinet.

Frequently Asked

How big is it?

126cm wide, 84cm tall and 45cm deep. It weighs 53.8kg.

Are the doors glazed?

Yes. Each of the two doors carries a single pane of glass in an iron frame.

What is inside it?

One shelf running the full width, which divides the space into two levels.

What is it made from?

A mango wood carcass, with the frame, the door surrounds and the base in iron.

How do I look after it?

Wipe the surfaces with a soft dry cloth to lift dust and moisture, always working in the direction of the grain. Mild soap and water can be used sparingly, and never harsh chemicals or abrasive materials. Use coasters and mats, clean spills up straight away and keep it out of strong direct sunlight.
