This table lamp pairs a sculpted stoneware base with a beige linen shade, and it is the base that makes it. Deep, wavy ridges with frilled, rippled edges twist up its whole height, so the surface catches light and shadow from every side, whether the lamp is on or off. At 64cm tall and 38cm across it is a generous size for a table lamp, big enough to hold its own on a sideboard rather than disappearing among books and frames. It weighs 5.8KG, a substantial piece to lift, so choose its spot before you set it down.

Its scale suits a living room sideboard, a hallway console or a broad bedside table, anywhere you want soft light through linen as well as something worth looking at.
