Description
The Milani is a stoneware cup that holds 250ml, a generous measure for a proper cup of tea or a long milky coffee. It is 11cm across and 7cm tall, so it sits wide and low, its sides flaring from a small foot to a softly wavy rim. A beige reactive glaze pools in the bowl and runs down the outside in long drips, thinning towards the base where a darker, earthier tone shows. A curved loop handle, glazed to match, finishes the shape. Reactive glazes move and settle in the kiln, so the drips, speckles and fine crackle on your cup will differ a little from those on any other.
We think of it first as a tea cup: the open mouth leaves room for a slice of lemon or a splash of milk. It suits a flat white, a hot chocolate on a cold afternoon or a cup of broth at lunch just as well. Use it every day at the kitchen table, put it out for friends at a weekend brunch, or keep it beside your favourite chair for the last drink of the evening. It belongs at breakfast and afternoon tea alike.
The cup is made entirely of stoneware, a dense clay fired at high temperature, and at 0.271KG it has a reassuring weight in the hand. Stoneware holds heat well. It is fit for food and drink and goes in the dishwasher, so it is easy to keep in daily use. It is not for the microwave or the oven, so heat milk in a pan and pour it into the cup afterwards. For styling, set it on plain linen or a wooden board so the glaze has space to show, or stand it on a darker plate, where the beige looks lighter and the drips read more clearly.

Frequently Asked
How much does the Milani cup hold?
It holds 250ml, which makes it a generous tea or coffee cup rather than a large mug, and it measures 11cm across and 7cm tall.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
Yes. The maker confirms it is suitable for the dishwasher, so it can go in with your everyday crockery after each use.
Can I use it in the microwave or oven?
No. The maker states it is not for the microwave or the oven, so warm drinks in a pan or kettle first and then pour them into the cup.
What material is the cup?
It is 100% stoneware finished with a vivid reactive glaze, which runs and pools during firing so that no two cups look exactly alike.
Is every cup the same?
Not quite. The reactive glaze moves in the kiln, so the drips, speckles and depth of beige vary a little from cup to cup.
What comes with it?
You receive a single beige stoneware cup, weighing 0.271KG; the styling props shown are not included.
