Description

The Mika is a globe pendant light: a sphere of opal white glass hung from a matt black iron canopy on a black textile cable. It comes in two sizes, 30cm and 40cm. The 30cm has a glass globe 30cm across and the 40cm has a globe 40cm across; both hang from a canopy 8cm across on a 1.5m cable. Inside sits one E27 lamp holder, so you choose the bulb yourself. Lamps are not included, so buy one separately. The opal glass softens the bulb behind it, giving a gentle, rounded glow rather than a bare point of light.

A single globe suits a hallway, landing or bedroom, and the 40cm makes a fuller centrepiece over a dining table or in a living room with good ceiling height. The 30cm is the easier fit for a smaller room, hung over a bedside table, a desk or a reading chair. Its plain, rounded lines sit naturally in modern and Scandinavian interiors, and the pairing of black and white works as well against pale walls as against darker paint. It is rated IP20, so it is for dry rooms only. It is a switched fitting, turned on and off from your wall switch.
