Description

The Miel is an 8x10 photo frame cast from aluminium in a champagne gold finish, with a raised honeycomb pattern covering the frame border. The frame holds a portrait-orientation photograph behind a glass insert, backed by an MDF panel with an easel strut for desktop or shelf display.

Designed for portrait photography at standard 8x10 inch (20.3 x 25.4cm) print size, the frame suits family portraits, formal headshots, and vertical-format art prints. The honeycomb relief pattern is cast into the aluminium during manufacture, giving each cell in the honeycomb a raised edge that catches light at different angles. The champagne gold finish combines a warm gold base tone with subtle antique nickel accents in the recesses of the pattern.

The frame measures 30cm wide by 34cm high with a 4cm depth when standing on the easel strut. The cast aluminium border adds 5cm to each side of the 8x10 aperture, giving the frame a substantial presence on a mantelpiece, sideboard or office desk. At 1.14kg the frame has enough weight to stand securely without tipping, and the glass insert is replaceable if needed. The MDF backing panel fixes into the aluminium frame from the rear.

Can this frame be wall-mounted?

The frame is designed for portrait orientation on a desktop or shelf using the rear easel strut. There is no wall-mounting provision in the standard design. If wall mounting is needed, the frame can be placed on a shelf or ledge fixed to the wall.

What photograph size does it hold?

The frame holds standard 8x10 inch (20.3 x 25.4cm) prints in portrait orientation. The aperture is sized for this format and does not accommodate landscape orientation or different print sizes.

Is the glass replaceable?

Yes. The glass insert sits within the frame and is held in place by the MDF backing panel. If the glass breaks or needs cleaning, the backing can be removed to access the glass.

How is the aluminium finish maintained?

The champagne gold finish is sealed during manufacture. Wipe the frame with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For fingerprints or marks, a barely-damp microfibre cloth is acceptable. Do not use metal polishes or abrasive cleaners, as these may remove the antique nickel detailing in the honeycomb recesses.
