Description

The Miel is a 5x7 photo frame built from cast aluminium with a champagne gold finish, formed into an organic honeycomb pattern around a rectangular glass insert. The frame sits portrait-orientation only on an MDF easel back finished in black, with the aluminium honeycomb structure forming a three-dimensional border approximately 34mm deep around the 5x7 photo aperture.

Designed for display on shelving, console tables, mantels and desks, the frame accepts standard 5x7 prints (127mm x 178mm) behind the front glass. The honeycomb cells are individually cast and bonded to form the continuous border, giving each cell slight variation in depth and finish tone as the champagne gold coating settles into the aluminium surface. The MDF back easel supports the frame at approximately 10 degrees from vertical when placed on a flat surface.

The frame weighs 535g, giving it stability on open shelving without needing to be secured. The champagne gold finish sits between bright brass and antique bronze, pairing comfortably with both warm woods and cooler neutral interiors. The honeycomb motif references natural forms without literal representation, making it suitable for botanical prints, family portraiture, and food photography where the organic pattern complements the subject matter.

Can the frame be displayed in landscape orientation?

No. The MDF easel back is fixed to support portrait orientation only. The frame cannot be rotated or re-configured for landscape display.

What photo size does it take?

The frame takes standard 5x7 prints (127mm x 178mm). The glass insert is fixed to this aperture size and cannot be swapped for other dimensions.

How is the photo loaded?

The MDF back panel lifts away from the frame body to allow the photo to be placed behind the glass. Small clips or tabs secure the back panel once the photo is in position.

Is the honeycomb pattern hand-finished?

The aluminium honeycomb cells are cast from moulds, then individually bonded to form the continuous border. The champagne gold finish is applied after assembly, so slight tonal variation between cells is normal.
