Description

The Metro Harlequin cushion leads with its face: a bold geometric harlequin diamond pattern woven as a velvet jacquard, so the design is built into the pile rather than printed onto it. Diamonds run in pink, orange, teal, blue, cream and green across the front, with fine striped detailing threading between the solid shapes. It measures 50 x 50cm, the standard square size that fits most off-the-shelf cushion pads, and the front is backed by a plain velvet reverse in teal, which gives you a quieter side to turn out when the pattern is doing too much work.

This is a cushion for a sofa or armchair that needs waking up. It sits well against plain upholstery, where the diamonds carry the colour on their own, and it pairs comfortably with plainer velvet cushions in single tones drawn from the print, such as teal or orange. Because one side is patterned and one is plain, you can dress a whole sofa with a mix of Metro Harlequin fronts and plain reverses and shift the balance whenever the mood changes.
