Description

This hand-painted stoneware mug holds 510ml, which makes it a large mug: room for a big tea or a milky coffee rather than a short espresso. It stands 11.5cm tall and 9.5cm across, with a rounded, bellied body that narrows a little towards the top before opening out at the rim. A deep border of blue leaf shapes and dots circles the top, and beneath it lemons hang from leafy blue sprigs, painted with loose, confident brushstrokes. The handle is decorated too, edged in blue and spotted with blue dots, and its generous loop takes a comfortable grip. At 0.41KG it has the solid weight you expect from good stoneware.

It is a mug for every day: the first tea of the morning at the kitchen table, a long coffee at a desk, or hot chocolate on a cold evening. The painted lemons bring a cheerful note to a breakfast table, and the blue decoration sits happily with plain tableware as well as with other patterned pottery.
