Description
A standing shelving unit, 190cm tall, 60cm wide and 38cm deep, built as a welded iron frame of square section tube with six mango wood boards set into it. The iron carries a dark bronze tone rather than a black one, warmer where the light runs along the uprights. The boards are left rough along their front edges, so the saw marks and the grain both show, and the unit stands on four short flat feet.
At 190cm it is a full height unit and at 60cm it is the narrow of the two Marjori widths. The six boards divide the frame into five open bays and the bays are not all the same height, so a jug or a vase standing up will go in some and not in others, while books stand upright in any of them. It stands flat against a wall, and at 38cm deep it takes a basket or a stack of bowls front to back.
The boards are mango wood and the frame is iron. Mango is cut for timber only once the trees have stopped bearing fruit, and the short growing cycle means the same trees give farmers a second income. Marjori is made in this narrow width and in a wide one, both in the same natural.

Frequently Asked
How many shelves does it have?
Six boards, dividing the frame into five open bays.
How big is it?
190cm tall, 60cm wide and 38cm deep, and it weighs 25kg.
What is the difference between the narrow and the wide?
The width. This is the narrow one at 60cm across; Marjori is also made in a wide version.
What is it made from?
Mango wood boards in an iron frame.
How do I look after the mango wood?
Mango is a tropical timber and can dry out in a centrally heated room, which may cause cracking or warping. Treat it now and again with an edible oil such as olive or walnut, worked in with a soft cloth. The oil will feed the wood without soaking in permanently, so it needs reapplying, and it will darken the tone.
