Description

The LYYT recessed T-style profile is a 2m length of extruded aluminium designed to house LED tape flush within walls or ceilings. The profile has a 25mm x 20mm external cross-section and a 12.5mm x 12.5mm internal channel, with a snap-fit clear polycarbonate cover that sits 14mm wide when installed. The T-shape sits flush with the surrounding surface once embedded, leaving only the clear cover visible as a linear strip.

Designed for residential feature walls, kitchen plinths, bathroom mirrors and commercial corridors, the profile keeps LED tape aligned across the full 2m run without sagging or misalignment. The clear cover diffuses point sources from individual LEDs into a continuous light line whilst protecting the tape from dust and contact. Spring clips provided with the profile secure it into cut channels in plasterboard, MDF or timber substrates, and the end caps close the channel at each termination point.

The aluminium extrusion acts as a heat sink, drawing heat away from the LED tape and extending diode lifespan when running continuous or high-output tape. The clear cover snaps into the profile edges without tools and can be removed for cleaning or tape replacement. The 2m length can be cut to size with a hacksaw if shorter runs are needed, and multiple profiles can be installed end-to-end for longer runs using butt joints.

What width LED tape does it take?

The 12.5mm internal width accommodates LED tape up to 12mm wide, which covers most standard 12V and 24V tape products. Tape wider than 12mm will not fit inside the channel.

How is the profile installed?

A channel is cut into the wall or ceiling substrate to the profile's external dimensions (25mm x 20mm). The profile is then pushed into the channel and secured with the provided spring clips. The LED tape is fixed inside the profile channel, and the clear cover snaps into place over the top.

Can the profile be cut to length?

Yes. The aluminium extrusion can be cut with a hacksaw or mitre saw to any length shorter than 2m. Cut edges should be deburred before installation and end caps fitted to both termination points.

Does it include the LED tape?

No. The profile is sold as a housing component only. LED tape, power supply and connectors are sold separately and must be matched to the installation requirements and desired light output.
