Description

The LYYT 5m heavy-duty extension cable adds 5 metres of run to LYYT festoon string light installations using a weatherproof rubber construction rated to IP44. One end carries a 3-pin male connector that plugs into the female output of a LYYT string light controller or the tail socket of an existing string light run, while the other end provides a 3-pin female socket to accept the next section of festoon lights or a further extension.

Designed for outdoor patios, garden installations, event marquees and commercial hospitality spaces where festoon lighting needs to span greater distances than a single string allows. The IP44 rating means the cable and connectors resist water splashes and rain, though neither end should be submerged or left sitting in pooled water. The rubber jacket remains flexible down to -10°C and resists UV degradation when exposed to direct sunlight over multiple seasons.

The cable is compatible only with the LYYT Heavy Duty LED String Light range that uses the same 3-pin connector system and works with the LYYT controller. It cannot be used with standard domestic festoon strings or other brands' proprietary connectors. Each extension adds minimal voltage drop across the 5m run, allowing multiple extensions to be daisy-chained without significant light output loss at the far end of the installation.

Is this compatible with all festoon string lights?

No. The cable is designed specifically for the LYYT Heavy Duty LED String Light range with controller and uses a proprietary 3-pin connector system. It will not fit standard domestic festoon lights or other brands.

Can multiple extension cables be joined together?

Yes. The male and female connectors allow multiple 5m extensions to be daisy-chained, extending the total run of the festoon installation. Voltage drop remains minimal across typical domestic and light commercial installations using 2-3 extensions.

What does IP44 mean in practice?

IP44 means the cable and connectors resist solid objects larger than 1mm and water splashes from any direction. The cable can be left outdoors in rain but should not be submerged or left in standing water.

Does the cable need to be disconnected in winter?

Not necessarily. The rubber remains flexible down to -10°C and resists UV degradation, so the cable can be left in place year-round. However, disconnecting and storing the cable indoors when the lights are not in use will extend its service life.
