Description
The LYYT 180 LED icicle string light features cool white LEDs arranged on black rubber cable with four alternating drop lengths of 260mm, 300mm, 460mm and 550mm. The 3.6m lit length carries the 180 concave-shaped LEDs spaced 70mm apart, with a 2.15m power lead giving an overall run of 5.75m from plug to end. Each set draws 5.9W maximum on 230V mains and carries an IP44 rating for outdoor use.
Designed for eaves, fascias, pergolas and outdoor event structures, the varying drop lengths create a cascading icicle effect that mimics frozen water. The built-in controller offers eight pre-programmed modes including steady-on, twinkle, chase and fade patterns, selected by pressing the controller button. Up to five sets can be daisy-chained from a single plug socket, allowing coverage of 18m or more without additional outdoor sockets.
The heavy-duty rubber cable is UV-stabilised to resist sun damage and remains flexible in cold weather, preventing the cable embrittlement that affects cheaper PVC-coated strings after a winter outdoors. The concave LED shape distributes light evenly at all viewing angles rather than concentrating brightness in one direction. At 1.3kg per set the lights stay in place on eaves without additional fixing in moderate wind, though additional cable ties are recommended for exposed locations.
Cool white LEDs produce light at approximately 6000K, giving a bright blue-white tone closer to daylight than the warmer yellow-white of 3000K bulbs. This colour temperature suits contemporary winter displays, commercial shopfront decoration and events where a crisp modern aesthetic is needed. The 5.9W power draw per set means five connected sets consume under 30W total, making extended seasonal installation affordable to run.

Frequently Asked
What does IP44 mean for outdoor use?
IP44 rating means the lights are protected against solid objects larger than 1mm and splashing water from any direction. This suits installation under eaves, on covered porches and on fascias where the lights are not directly exposed to heavy rainfall or submersion. The lights should not be used in standing water or where they will be hosed down directly.
How many sets can be connected together?
Up to five sets can be daisy-chained from a single plug socket, giving a maximum run of 18m lit length. The combined power draw of five sets is approximately 30W, well within the capacity of a standard UK 13A socket.
What are the eight lighting modes?
The built-in controller cycles through eight pre-programmed modes when the button is pressed. These typically include steady-on, slow fade, twinkle, chase, wave and combination effects. The controller retains the last-selected mode when powered off and back on.
Can the controller be removed or bypassed?
The controller is integrated into the cable assembly and cannot be removed. To operate the lights in steady-on mode only, press the controller button until the steady-on mode is selected. The lights will remain in this mode each time they are switched on at the mains.
