Description

Luna Black Corner M is made for an external corner. It is a disc 150cm across cut into two half discs, and the halves mount one on each face of the corner, with a strip of black lacquered glass running down the corner itself. The two halves sit at ninety degrees to each other rather than in one plane, so the piece reads as a full circle only from directly in front and opens into two curved panels as you move past it. The design is by Studio Segers.

That makes it a solution rather than a decoration: an outside corner is usually the piece of wall nothing works on, and this is built for exactly that. It arrives in parts and is assembled in place, which is the only way a mirror of this size gets onto a corner at all. It hangs in one direction, with the joint vertical on the arris. At 21kg it is a two person job, and the fixings have to reach something solid on both faces. It is not rated for bathroom use.

The mirror is mirrored glass with a black lacquered glass strip at the joint. Clean the glass with cleaner sprayed onto a soft cloth, working outwards from the corner rather than across it. Set the two halves out carefully before fixing either: the circle only closes if both are the same height and the strip sits true on the arris. A larger 200cm size is made. Seven year warranty, made in Europe.
