Description

This blue MDF photo frame carries the old nursery rhyme about what little boys are made of, printed in soft grey capitals around a single rectangular opening. The question 'What are little boys made of?' sits across the top, and the familiar answer of slugs and snails and puppy dog tails runs along the bottom in two lines. The opening takes a 6 x 4in photograph in landscape, and small white hearts are printed on the pale blue face. At the top left corner, a twine bow holds two white hearts that hang down the side, giving the nearly square frame a homely, rustic touch. The front measures 19.5cm on its longer side and 18.7cm on its shorter, and the frame is 2.2cm deep.

A strut at the back lets it stand on its own on a shelf, chest of drawers or bedside table, so it needs no wall and no fixings. It sits happily in a nursery, a bedroom or anywhere family photographs gather. We think it makes a thoughtful baby shower gift, waiting for the first photograph once the little one arrives, and a lovely way to mark a birth with a picture from those early days at home.

The frame is made from MDF with a printed finish, its pale blue face given a gently washed look that sits well with soft nursery colours. There is no mount, so a 6 x 4in print slides straight in and fills the opening. To keep it looking its best, dust it now and then with a soft dry cloth and keep it away from damp. For a gift, slip a favourite early photograph inside before wrapping, so it is ready to stand on a shelf from the moment it is opened.
