Description
The Latham is a 32.5cm rectangular mantel clock built from polished aluminium with a white dial face, black Roman numerals and a stepped plinth base. The case finish is polished to a mirror-like nickel tone that reflects surrounding light, while the dial sits behind a protective glass or acrylic face. A decorative urn-style handle tops the clock case, echoing classical carriage clock proportions scaled up for mantel display.
Designed for mantels, console tables and shelves in living rooms, studies and entrance halls, the Latham suits both traditional and transitional interiors where a formal clock presence is needed without the bulk of a full-size grandfather or bracket clock. At 38cm tall and 16cm deep, it sits comfortably on a typical mantel without overhanging the fire surround below. The stepped base provides stability and raises the dial to a more visible height when viewed from seated positions across the room.
The clock runs on a single AA battery (not included) driving a quartz movement that ticks audibly. The polished aluminium case weighs 2.7kg, giving the clock a substantial presence that resists being knocked over in high-traffic areas. The Roman numeral dial uses XII, IX, VI and III hour markers with minute track detailing around the perimeter, paired with traditional spade hands in black.

Frequently Asked
What battery does it use?
The clock runs on a single AA battery (not included). Standard alkaline AA batteries typically last 12-18 months in a quartz mantel clock depending on ambient temperature and battery quality.
Does it tick audibly?
Yes. The quartz movement produces a gentle ticking sound. If you need a silent clock for a bedroom or quiet study, consider a sweep-movement model instead.
How is the aluminium cleaned?
Wipe the polished aluminium case with a dry microfibre cloth to remove fingerprints and dust. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp cloth is acceptable, but dry immediately to prevent water spots. Avoid abrasive cleaners or polishes that can scratch the mirror finish.
Can it be placed outdoors?
No. The Latham is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to moisture, temperature fluctuations and UV light will degrade the movement and tarnish the polished aluminium finish.
