Description

The Knightsbridge 2ft modular LED batten is a 615mm linear ceiling-mount fitting with an integrated 10W LED producing 1400lm at 4000K cool white. The pressed steel housing and opal polycarbonate diffuser provide even light distribution across a 120° beam angle, designed for utility rooms, workshops, storage areas and commercial backrooms where functional overhead light is needed.

The batten mounts directly to ceilings via BESA box or standard fixing points, with rear and end conduit entry options for different cable runs. The hinged tray design allows the diffuser and internal components to swing open without removing fixings, making installation and lamp access faster than fully sealed battens. A push-fit terminal block simplifies wiring on site.

The fitting is modular in that it accepts an optional plug-in microwave sensor module (MODMWS, sold separately) for motion-activated lighting without rewiring the mains circuit. The 4000K colour temperature produces a neutral-to-cool white tone common in commercial and task-focused environments. The IP20 rating limits the batten to dry indoor locations — it is not suitable for bathrooms, outdoor canopies or damp areas.

The LED is rated for 100,000 hours to L70 (the point at which output drops to 70% of initial lumens), translating to approximately 11 years of continuous use or decades of intermittent use in typical commercial applications. The 5-year warranty covers LED driver and housing faults.

Is the LED replaceable?

No. The LED is integrated into the batten and is rated for 100,000 hours. At end of life, the entire fitting is replaced rather than just the LED module.

Can it be fitted with a motion sensor?

Yes. The batten accepts Knightsbridge's MODMWS plug-in microwave sensor module (sold separately). The sensor module plugs into a socket inside the batten without needing to rewire the mains circuit.

What fixing method does it use?

The batten is BESA compatible and can be fixed directly to a BESA box or mounted to ceiling joists via the rear fixing points. Rear and end conduit entry options are available for different cable runs.

Is it suitable for bathrooms?

No. The IP20 rating means the batten is designed for dry indoor locations only. For bathrooms or damp areas, an IP44-rated or higher fitting is required.
