Description

The Knightsbridge EX1TWH is a 100mm white extractor fan with an adjustable overrun timer that continues running for 2-30 minutes after the light switch is turned off, removing residual moisture and odours once the room is vacated. The timer comes preset to 2 minutes and can be adjusted via a dial on the fan body before installation. Running at 9.7W on 230V mains, the fan extracts 24 litres per second (87m³/hr) while generating 28.5-30dBA of noise at 3 metres.

Designed for domestic bathrooms, en-suites and small utility rooms, the fan carries an IP45 rating making it suitable for Zone 1 bathroom installation (the area directly above a bath or shower up to 2.25m height). The fan can be mounted on a wall or ceiling and requires a 102mm diameter cut-out in plasterboard, timber or masonry. A back draught shutter is built into the unit to prevent cold air flowing back through the ductwork when the fan is off.

The white ABS plastic grille sits almost flush with the wall or ceiling, projecting just 49.9mm from the surface once installed. The fan housing recesses 78.5mm into the wall cavity or ceiling void, so check void depth before ordering. Double-insulated Class II construction means no earth wire is required during installation. The fan complies with Building Regulations Part F (ventilation) and Part L (energy efficiency) with a specific fan power (SFP) of 0.401W per litre per second.

What ceiling or wall void depth is needed?

The fan housing recesses 78.5mm into the wall cavity or ceiling void. You will need at least 80mm of clear void depth behind the plasterboard or masonry to accommodate the fan body and ductwork connection.

How is the overrun timer adjusted?

The timer is adjusted via a dial on the fan body and must be set before installation. The factory preset is 2 minutes, and the dial allows adjustment between 2 and 30 minutes. Once the fan is installed and the grille fitted, the timer cannot be changed without removing the unit.

Can this be installed in a shower room?

Yes. The IP45 rating makes the fan suitable for Zone 1 bathroom installation, which includes the area directly above a bath or shower up to 2.25m height. It is not rated for Zone 0 (inside the bath or shower enclosure itself).

Does the fan need an earth wire?

No. The fan is double-insulated Class II construction, so no earth connection is required. You will only need to connect live, neutral and switched live wires during installation.
