Description

An armchair on a mango wood frame, 90cm tall, 72.5cm wide and 66cm deep. The frame is square in section and left rough sawn, so the saw marks and the grain stay on the surface. Flat arm rails run along each side on uprights above the seat, and the back legs rake away behind. The seat and the back panel are upholstered in a handwoven kilim, a coarse natural weave carrying stepped motifs in soft rust and muted green.

The seat sits 51cm from the floor and measures 60cm across and 47cm deep, with the back rising to 90cm. It takes the corner of a bedroom against a window. It carries up to 150kg, and the chair itself weighs 17kg.

The frame is mango wood, hand-carved and assembled, and rough sawn by hand so that the marks of the saw are part of the finish. The kilim is handwoven from cotton and jute using traditional techniques, which is what gives it its texture and its uneven tone. The chair is made in this one size.
