Description
Kahlah is a wide amber candle holder made from 100% recycled glass, built around one simple idea: a smaller glass cup rises from the centre of its base to hold a pillar candle upright, leaving a broad ring of open space all around it. It is 19cm across and 18cm tall, nearly as wide as it is high, so it reads as a generous, low cylinder rather than a slim lantern. At 2.114KG it is a solid, weighty piece of glass, which gives it a settled, substantial feel on a sill or a table.
It is made as a Christmas piece, and that is where it shines. Set a pillar candle in the central cup and fill the space around it with pinecones, sprigs of fir, dried seed heads or a few small baubles, and you have a finished winter arrangement for a windowsill, a mantelpiece, a hall console or the middle of a table. Because the walls are tall, the decorations stay inside the glass rather than scattering across the surface. It suits anyone who likes a warm, low glow through the darker months, and it sits as happily on a deep sill as on a sideboard.
The holder is glass throughout, the central cup included, in one even amber tone. Coloured glass tints the light that passes through it, so a flame inside gives the whole cylinder a warm glow and casts amber light onto the surface beneath. Because the amber is see-through, everything you place inside stays on view, which is why pinecones and fir work so well around a plain candle. The styling props shown are not included. For styling, stand it on pale stone, white painted wood or a neutral linen runner, where the amber reads most strongly, and keep it out after Christmas with just the candle in the centre for a quieter winter look.

What is it made of?
It is made from 100% recycled glass in amber, and the small candle cup in the centre of the base is glass too.
How does it hold the candle?
A smaller glass cup rises from the centre of the base and holds a pillar candle upright, leaving an open ring around it for decorations.
How heavy is it?
