Description

A tablecloth in plain linen, 230cm long by 130cm wide, in an undyed natural tone that sits somewhere between oatmeal and stone. The weave is visibly slubbed, with the thicker and thinner threads of the flax showing across the surface, and the edge is turned and stitched into a plain narrow hem with no border, fringe or trim on it.

At 230 by 130cm it covers a rectangular table of about 170 by 70cm with a 30cm drop on every side, which is enough to clear the table edge and fall over a lap. On a narrower table the side drop lengthens and the end drop stays where it is. It goes over a plain wooden table with one corner left hanging rather than tucked, and it holds the creases where it has been folded, which linen does.

It is 100 per cent linen, woven and hand finished in Portugal. Linen is spun from flax, and the uneven thickness of the flax thread is what gives the surface its slub and the fabric its dry handle. The same tablecloth is made in a larger size, and the Junto range also runs to a linen table runner and linen napkins.
