Our Jules deep plate sits halfway between a plate and a bowl. At 22cm across and 5cm tall, with a capacity of 800ml, it has the width of a plate and enough depth to hold a generous portion of something saucy. It is made from 100% stoneware, a dense ceramic fired at high temperature, which holds heat well and gives the plate a solid feel at 0.695KG. The finish is a reactive glaze, and that is what makes this piece itself: the multicoloured glaze breaks into broad sweeps and fine speckles around a gently uneven round rim, smooth in some places and freckled in others.
