Description

Our Jolly side plate is cream stoneware with a ring of nutcracker soldiers marching around its rim, leaving the centre plain for whatever you put on it. It measures 20cm across and 3cm tall, which is a true side plate size: big enough for a slice of Christmas cake, a mince pie or buttered toast, and small enough to sit beside a dinner plate without crowding the table. The soldiers stand in single file in tall hats and little uniforms, and a fine line finishes the outer edge. It weighs 0.36KG.

This is a plate made for the Christmas table. Set one at each place beside the dinner plates for bread and butter, bring them out for cheese and crackers on Boxing Day, or hand them round with cake and biscuits when friends call in over the holidays. It suits Christmas breakfast just as well, with a warm croissant or a few pancakes, and it makes a cheerful plate for afternoon tea by the fire.
