Description

Two round coffee tables that sit together, each with a clear toughened glass top held in a brass-finished iron rim on four tapered legs. The larger is 93cm across and 43cm high, and the smaller is narrower, with its top sliding in under the rim of the larger one. The rims are smooth and bright while the legs are left hammered and pitted, so the two parts read differently in the same finish.

Pushed together they make one table with a stepped edge; drawn apart they give two surfaces, one beside a sofa and one further out. They overlap in front of a sofa on a rug. The tops are clear glass, so the rug underneath stays in view and the legs are all that break it up.

The frames are iron, formed first and then given their brass finish, and the tops are toughened glass held in the rims rather than resting loose on them. At 42kg the pair has real weight. The Jiya is made as this pair and in no other size.
