Description

This is a stoneware vase in the shape of a fish, stood upright on its tail so that the open mouth becomes the opening at the top. It is painted by hand and multicoloured, with a body of round spots, each ringed by a fine painted line, a glossy head with a round eye, raised fins on both sides and a flared tail that forms the foot. At 22cm tall, 11cm long and 7.5cm wide it is a small vase, not a floor piece: the right size for a few stems or a single branch, and slim enough for a narrow shelf. It weighs 0.45KG, so it is easy to move from room to room.

We would put it where people can see it up close: on a bookcase among books and small ceramics, on a mantelpiece, a desk or a side table.
