Description
A cabinet built from reclaimed wood, 100cm high, 70cm wide and 40cm deep, with a single door filled with open horizontal slats. The frame is weathered timber with the grain standing proud of the surface and old bolt holes and splits left in it, and the slats are cut from fresher wood a shade or two lighter. The door hangs on two iron hinges and shuts on a slim iron handle, with a small turn catch above it and another below. The four corner posts run past the base to make short feet.
Inside there are two fixed shelves, which divide the height into three. The slats are open rather than solid, so what stands on the shelves is half visible through the door. At 100cm high and 70cm wide it is taller than it is wide and takes only 40cm of depth against a wall, and the top stands at the end of a sofa with room for a lamp and books.
The wood is salvaged from decommissioned Indian transport trucks, cut into panels and assembled by hand. Each panel is chosen for its grain and its weathering, then lightly sanded and left in a natural finish, so the knots, the cracks and the old marks stay where they are and no two cabinets come out alike. Ibo also runs to a taller slatted cabinet and a slatted sideboard in the same wood.

Frequently Asked
What is inside?
Two fixed shelves, which divide the height into three.
How big is it?
100cm high, 70cm wide and 40cm deep.
What is the wood?
Timber salvaged from decommissioned Indian transport trucks.
Will every cabinet look the same?
No. Each panel is selected for its grain and its patina, and the knots, cracks and old marks are left in, so no two are alike.
How should it be looked after?
Wipe the surfaces regularly with a soft dry cloth. Mild soap and water can be used, but do not use excess water, and always wipe in the direction of the grain. Use coasters and mats, deal with spills at once, and keep it out of strong direct sunlight.
