Description

This is a scented candle set in green glass, its scent named Hinoki Sage, and it arrives in its own box ready to give. The glass stands 10.7cm tall and 9cm across, a size that sits comfortably on a side table or shelf without crowding it. Inside is 285g of soy paraffin wax around a single cotton wick, and the maker gives a burn time of 50 hours, so this is a candle to light through many evenings rather than save for one occasion. The wax is green too, close in tone to the glass, so the whole piece reads as one soft colour whether it is lit or not.

Because it comes boxed, it makes an easy present: a housewarming, a birthday, or a thank you for someone who likes a calm, green home. In the house it suits a coffee table in the living room, the middle of a dining table, a sideboard in the hall or a bedside table where you want a gentle glow at the end of the day. It is as at home on a bathroom shelf for a long soak. Unlit, the green glass still earns its place on a shelf, so it works as a decorative piece between burns.

The vessel is glass, with a frosted look to its green sides and a translucent foot at the base that gives it a little lift off the surface. The wick is cotton and the wax is soy paraffin, as the maker lists them, and it weighs 0.45KG, light enough to move from shelf to table whenever you like. Once the wax is gone, the empty glass can stand on a desk holding pens or pencils. For styling, stand it on a wooden tray with one or two other green pieces, or give it a bare surface of its own where the colour of the glass can do the work.
