Description

The Harsha is a dining chair with a buffalo leather shell on a forged iron frame. The back curves round into low sides and is stitched in vertical channels from the top edge down to the seat, which is what gives it its ribbed line. The seat is plain and piped, rounded along the front. Four slim dark iron legs taper towards the floor and splay outward, with no stretchers between them.

The seat sits 50cm from the floor and is 45cm across and 41cm deep. The chair stands 85cm to the top of the back and is 45cm wide and 53cm deep overall, and it will take up to 120kg. It works at a dining table or at a desk. The leather is a deep mossy green that lifts to a lighter olive where the light catches the ribs.

The leather is buffalo hide, a by-product of farming in India where the herds are kept by local herdsmen, and it is dyed with vegetable extract and tree bark, so the colour goes on deepening with time. The frame is forged iron. The chair weighs 6.9kg. The Harsha range also holds this dining chair in chocolate brown and in aged tan, and a counter height version in the same leather.
