Description

Fian is a small round striped vase in hand-painted dolomite ceramic, 11cm across and 11cm tall, with a full, rounded body that narrows to a short neck. Orange stripes run from the rim down to the base, each one painted by hand, so the brush marks show and the widths vary a little from stripe to stripe. At this size it is a bud vase rather than one for a big bunch: the narrow neck keeps two or three slender stems standing upright, and the rounded body gives it a steady, settled look on a surface.

Because it is so compact, it suits the places a larger vase would crowd: a bedside table, a windowsill, a bookshelf, the corner of a desk or the centre of a small dining table. A few dried flower heads or a single seed head look right in it, and it holds its own as a decorative piece with nothing in it at all. The orange stripes sit happily beside other patterned ceramics, and it makes an easy gift for anyone who likes colour at home but has little room for a large vase.

Dolomite is a fine, smooth earthenware ceramic, and at 0.22KG this vase is light enough to move from shelf to table whenever the mood changes. The stripes are painted by hand rather than printed, and no two hand-painted pieces are exactly alike, so yours will carry its own small differences in the spacing and depth of the colour. For styling, set it in front of taller vases so its round shape shows against them, or give it a spot of its own at eye level, where the brushwork can be seen up close.

Frequently Asked

What is the vase made of?

It is made of 100% dolomite ceramic, a fine earthenware, and the orange stripes are painted on by hand.

How big is the vase?

It is 11cm across and 11cm tall, a small bud vase size that suits a few slender stems or a single dried flower head.

Is every vase exactly the same?

The stripes are hand-painted, so the spacing and depth of colour vary slightly from one vase to the next, and yours will be its own.

How heavy is it?

It weighs 0.22KG, light enough to carry from room to room and to sit comfortably on a narrow shelf or windowsill.

What kind of stems suit it?

With its narrow neck and small size it suits two or three slender stems, dried flower heads or seed heads, rather than a full bunch.
