Description
Fian is a small, round vase in white dolomite ceramic, dotted all over from the neck down to the base. It stands 11cm tall and measures 11cm across, so the body is as wide as it is high and sits like a little globe, with a short, narrow neck on top. Dolomite is a ceramic whose clay includes the mineral dolomite, and the white ground lets the dotted pattern read clearly. At 0.22KG it is light enough to move from shelf to windowsill without a second thought.
The narrow neck is what makes it useful: it holds one or two stems upright and stops them from flopping sideways. A pair of dried teasels, a sprig of dried grass or a single seed head suits it well. At this size it belongs where small things look right, such as a windowsill, a bookshelf, a bedside table, a desk or the end of a sideboard. It holds its own alone, but it is just as happy grouped with taller vases and candlesticks, where its low, round shape breaks up a row of upright pieces. It also makes an easy gift for anyone who likes a few stems about the house.
The vase is made entirely of dolomite ceramic, and its finish is partly hand decorated. Because part of the work is done by hand, the pattern can vary slightly from one vase to the next, so the one that arrives is its own. The dots are spaced loosely rather than set in strict rows, which keeps the look relaxed and cheerful. For styling, let the round body do the work: keep the stems short and sparse, and set it beside something tall and plain so the dots have room to show.

Frequently Asked
What is the Fian vase made of?
It is made of 100% dolomite ceramic, a ceramic whose clay includes the mineral dolomite, finished in white with a dotted pattern.
How big is the vase?
It is 11cm tall and 11cm across, so it is a small, round vase best suited to one or two short stems.
How heavy is it?
It weighs 0.22KG, so it is light and easy to move between a shelf, a windowsill and a bedside table.
Is the decoration done by hand?
The finish is partly hand decorated, so the pattern can vary slightly from one vase to the next and no two are quite identical.
What kind of stems suit it?
The short, narrow neck suits one or two slim stems, such as dried teasels, dried grasses or a single seed head, kept fairly short.
