Description

Our Fennorne is a single wall light with a tapered shade that sits flat against the wall, narrower at the top and opening out towards its base. It is black on the outside and gold on the inside, so when it is lit the open base glows gold at the rim and the light falls down the wall below. Made of iron, it measures 12.5cm tall and 24.5cm across, and it stands 14cm out from the wall, a neat size that keeps it close to the surface rather than reaching into the room. It takes one G9 bulb, which is not included, so you will need one to hand before it goes up.

Because it is rated IP20, it belongs in dry rooms, and it does its best work wherever you want light on a wall rather than from the ceiling. We like a pair either side of a bed in place of bedside lamps, which frees up the tables, or a row along a hallway or landing to light the way at night. In a living room or dining room it adds a low layer of light alongside a ceiling fitting, and the black exterior looks at home on painted plaster, wallpaper or bare concrete alike.

The fitting is iron, finished black outside with gold inside, and it carries one light. As a mains fitting it is for a qualified electrician to install, and the G9 bulb is bought separately, so you can choose the one that suits the room. For styling, the black and gold sits well against grey, white or deep green walls, and it picks up brass or gold details elsewhere, such as picture frames, door handles or a mirror. Mounted in a pair at the same height, the two gold rims make a tidy line across the wall.
