B15 (SBC) LED Filament Candle Bulb 4W 470lm - Warm White 2700K

This is a candle bulb with its LED filaments on open display inside clear glass, so the lit look sits much closer to an old wound filament lamp than to a frosted LED. It draws 4W and gives 470 lumens at 2,700 Kelvin, a warm white with a slight amber cast. The cap is B15, the small bayonet: two pins that push in and twist, on a base noticeably narrower than the B22 cap found on most ceiling roses.

Small bayonet candles belong in chandeliers, candelabra ceiling fittings, wall lights and small pendant shades, the sort of fitting that holds several lamps rather than one. Because the glass is clear, put this one where the bulb is meant to be seen: an open branched fitting, a glass shade, a lantern with clear panels. Behind a solid or heavily frosted shade the filament detail is lost. If you are replacing an existing lamp, take it out and look at the cap first: B15 has two pins on a metal bayonet base, while a screw cap of similar size is an E14 and will not fit.

The lamp is not dimmable, so give it a plain on and off switch; on a dimmer circuit it may flicker, buzz or fail early. It is rated IP20, for indoor use in dry positions. How do I know my fitting takes a B15 cap?

Pull the old lamp out and look at the base. B15 is a metal bayonet with two small side pins and a narrow barrel, smaller than the familiar B22 bayonet and not interchangeable with the E14 small screw cap.

Is 470 lumens as bright as the 40W candle it replaces?

Yes. The pack rates this 4W lamp as the equivalent of a 40W conventional candle, and the 280 degree spread means the light goes out sideways as well as upward.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification lists it as non dimmable, so it wants a plain on and off switch. Wired to a dimmer it can flicker, hum or shorten its own life.

Will it fit inside a small candle shade or a clip on shade?

The pack prints an overall length of 98mm and a diameter of 35mm, so measure the inside height of your shade before ordering if the clearance looks tight.

What does 2,700K warm white actually look like?

It is the soft yellow white of an old incandescent lamp rather than a crisp modern white, which flatters warm paint, wood and brass in a sitting room or hallway.
