E27 (ES) LED GLS Bulb 13.8W 1521lm - Warm White 3000K, 2 Pack

This is a GLS bulb, the classic pear shape most people picture when they think of a light bulb, with an E27 screw cap and LED technology inside. It draws 13.8W and gives 1521lm, which the pack puts level with a 100W conventional bulb, so it sits at the bright end of what LED offers rather than the middle. The light is warm white at 3000K, a shade crisper than the 2700K of an old filament lamp but still firmly on the warm side of neutral. The opal body spreads the light from the diodes so there is no harsh bright point to look at.

E27 is the larger of the two screw caps in common UK use, often written ES; the smaller one is E14 or SES. Worth checking the old bulb first, because a pendant and a floor lamp in one room can take different caps. At 1521lm this is the lamp for a fitting that has to light a whole space on its own: a kitchen, a hallway, a landing, a garage or a workshop bench. Light spreads across 200 degrees, so it goes up towards the ceiling as well as down, which keeps a shade or a glass shroud looking evenly lit instead of leaving one bright pool underneath.

There is no dimming here, so use it with an ordinary on and off switch; on a dimmer circuit a non dimmable lamp can flicker, buzz or fail early. It is IP20, built for dry indoor use. The pack prints a 10 year lamp life, and the lamp carries energy class E at 14kWh per 1000 hours. Each box holds two bulbs, and the minimum order is six boxes in multiples of six. How do I know my lamp takes an E27 cap?

E27 is the larger screw cap, around 27mm across the threaded metal base, and it is often marked ES on a fitting. The smaller screw cap is E14 or SES, so measure or compare the old bulb before ordering.

How bright is 1521lm in a normal room?

It is a high output for a single lamp. The pack gives it as the equal of a 100W conventional bulb, so one is usually enough for a kitchen ceiling, a hall or a garage where you want no dark corners.

Can I put it on a dimmer switch?

No. The specification states it is not dimmable, so it needs a standard on and off switch. Wired to a dimmer it may flicker, hum or shorten its life, even if it appears to work at first.

What does warm white 3000K actually look like?

It is a soft, slightly creamy white. A touch cleaner and brighter in feel than the 2700K of old filament lamps, and clearly warmer than a 4000K cool white or a 6500K daylight lamp.

How many bulbs do I get, and how many must I buy?

Each box contains two bulbs. The minimum order is six boxes, sold in multiples of six, so the smallest order brings you twelve bulbs in total.

Will it work in a table lamp or a pendant with a shade?

Yes, provided the holder is E27 and there is room for the full pear shaped body. The 200 degree spread lights a shade evenly rather than throwing everything straight down.
