Energizer Waterproof LED Torch 55lm - 2 x AA Batteries Included

An LED handheld torch from Energizer, rated at 55 lumens and supplied with the two AA alkaline batteries it runs on, so it works the moment the card is opened. The retail pack quotes 35 hours of runtime from that pair of cells, prints an IPX7 rating, and says the torch floats. LED light sources draw far less current than the filament bulbs older torches used, and that is what lets a two cell torch run as long as this one claims. Fifty five lumens is a beam for finding things and walking with rather than lighting up a whole garden.

We would keep this one within reach in the dark: a kitchen drawer, the glovebox, a coat pocket, the bag that goes camping. The floating note on the pack earns its place near water, on a boat, at the edge of a river or on a wet towpath, because a torch that sits on the surface is a torch you get back. One push button sits on the side of the body, close to the head, so it can be found and worked one handed or in gloves. It is a single beam light, useful for meter reading, fuse boxes and the space behind a car seat.

The body in our photographs is red with a black head, which is the right way round for a torch you want to spot quickly in a dark drawer. The retail pack prints an IPX7 rating and states that the torch floats. Beyond those two markings the manufacturer publishes no further water detail, so we quote only what the pack says.

Is it dimmable, and what colour temperature is the LED?

Neither the specification nor the retail pack states a dimming function, a colour temperature or a filament wattage equivalent, so we cannot quote any of those figures.

Which batteries do I fit as replacements?

Two AA cells, the same size the pack supplies. Keeping a spare pair with the torch is sensible if it lives in a car or a camping bag.
