Description

This is a small handheld torch with a metal body, rated on the retail pack at 50 lumens. It is the sort of light you keep where you will need one rather than where you can find one: a coat pocket, a glovebox, a kitchen drawer, the lid of a toolbox. The body in the photograph is a plain grey metal, knurled at both ends, so it sits still on a worktop and stays put in a cold or damp hand. The pack is marked durable metal and holds one light.

Fifty lumens is a close work beam rather than a searchlight. It is enough to read a meter, find a fuse box, check the back of a cupboard, walk a dog along an unlit lane or work out which key fits the lock. If you want to light a whole garden, a lantern or a floodlight is the better buy. What this one does well is stay with you: in a car door pocket, a caravan drawer, a bedside table or a bag that is already too full, it takes up almost no room and asks nothing of you until the power goes out.
