Description

The Energizer HDL40 is a 500-lumen LED head torch with an IPX7 waterproof rating, a pivoting head and five light modes including red LED for night vision. The main white LED delivers 500 lumens on high mode with a 75m beam distance, while the two secondary white LEDs offer lower-output modes for close work. The red LED mode preserves night vision and reduces glare when working in shared spaces after dark.

Designed for outdoor activities, site work, camping and emergency use, the HDL40 runs on three AAA batteries (included) and provides up to 3 hours of runtime on high mode. The pivoting head tilts through approximately 90 degrees, allowing the beam to be directed at ground level or straight ahead without needing to tilt the head. The elastic headband adjusts to fit over bare heads or hard hats and can be removed for washing.

The IPX7 rating means the torch can be submerged in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes without failure, making it suitable for wet-weather use, kayaking and environments where water exposure is likely. The shatterproof lens protects the LEDs from drops and impacts. The orange casing makes the torch easier to locate in a rucksack or toolbox. At 130g with batteries fitted, the HDL40 sits comfortably on the forehead without causing pressure fatigue during extended wear.

The HDL40 runs on three AAA batteries. Three Energizer Max AAA batteries are included in the pack, so the torch is ready to use immediately.

What does IPX7 waterproof mean?

IPX7 rating means the torch can be submerged in up to 1 metre of water for 30 minutes without damage. It can handle rain, splashes and brief immersion, but is not designed for prolonged underwater use or depths beyond 1 metre.

How long does the battery last?

Runtime varies by mode. On high mode (500 lumens) the torch runs for approximately 3 hours. Lower-output modes and the red LED mode extend runtime significantly.

Can the head angle be adjusted?

Yes. The entire lamp housing pivots on a ratcheted joint, allowing the beam to be angled downwards for close work or straight ahead for distance. The pivot holds the chosen angle without needing to be tightened.
