Description
A square jute cushion cover, 50 x 50cm. A broad band of solid sage green runs down each side edge, and between them the ground is left the natural oatmeal of undyed jute and carries vertical stripes printed in the same green. The stripes sit in groups of fine close lines with plain gaps between them, so the pattern reads as ruled rather than evenly spaced. The weave is coarse and open enough to read across the whole face.
At 50 x 50cm it takes a pad of the same size, and the range runs this square alongside a 60 x 40cm rectangle. The stripes run parallel to the two green borders, so the pattern stands upright when the borders sit at the sides and runs across the cover when it is turned a quarter turn. It suits a sofa back, a bed or an occasional chair, and the sage reads as a soft olive against cream or natural linen rather than as a bright green.
The fabric is jute throughout, woven on a handloom and then given a softening treatment, because jute on its own is a coarse fibre. The striped design is hand block printed onto the woven ground afterwards. The Eesha range runs in ochre, sage green and rust, each in this 50 x 50cm square and a 60 x 40cm rectangle.

Frequently Asked
What size cushion pad does this cover take?
A 50 x 50cm pad. The cover itself measures 50 x 50cm.
Are the stripes printed or woven?
Printed. The ground is woven first on a handloom, and the striped design is block printed onto it by hand afterwards.
What is it made from?
Jute, woven on a traditional Indian handloom. Jute is a coarse fibre, so the woven fabric is put through a softening treatment before it is printed.
Does it come in other colours and sizes?
Yes. Ochre, sage green and rust, each in 50 x 50cm and 60 x 40cm.
How should it be washed?
Many cushion covers are washable, but for some fabrics spot cleaning only is recommended. Lift any liquid with an absorbent tissue first, then blot the area with a sponge or a clean folded towel moistened in lukewarm water, and dry it by blowing warm air across the surface with a hair dryer so no water marks are left. Larger, more stubborn stains should be dealt with professionally. All the cushion covers are tested for colourfastness.
