Cord Black Half Tinted Round Wall Mirror 58cm

Cord Black is a 58cm round mirror split vertically, one half black tinted glass and the other clear mirror. The division is hard rather than graded, so the disc reads as two half moons of different weight joined down the centre.

Black tinted glass still reflects, but darkly, so the black half gives you a dimmed version of the room rather than a blank. Against a pale wall the contrast is the whole effect and the mirror becomes a graphic object; against a dark wall the black half recedes and the clear half does the work. It is worth deciding which of those you are after before choosing the spot. It is rated bathroom proof and hangs one way up. At 5kg and 3cm deep it is a one person hang with the two screws, washers and plugs supplied and nothing to assemble.

The build is black and clear mirrored glass on an mdf backing, frameless, so the rim is bare cut glass. Clean it with cleaner on a cloth rather than sprayed at the glass and keep water off the backing edge. A dark tint shows dust and finger marks more plainly than clear mirror does, which is the small cost of the effect. Two other treatments of the same 58cm disc are made, one textured and one reeded, and the three hang well as a set. All three share the same 58cm disc, the same mdf backing and the same fixings, so a group of three hangs at a consistent depth off the wall.
