Description

Four tall tumblers, 13cm high and 7.5cm across, each holding 400ml. The wall is pinched in down two opposite sides, so the glass is not a straight cylinder but a soft waist with a fuller swell above and below it. A band of hammered dimpling runs round the upper third, under the rim. The lip is rolled into a thick round band, and the glass reads grey-green through its thickness, deepening at the base.

400ml is a long drink rather than a short one: water with ice, a soft drink, a tall mixed one. At 13cm they are tall enough to read down the length of a table without cutting across it. The pinched sides give the fingers somewhere to sit, which is what the hold point is for.

The glass is recycled and every tumbler is blown by hand using traditional tools. The surface is hammered first and pinched afterwards, in that order. The profile is left unregulated, so the waist sits at a different height on each glass and the four will not stand as a matched row. The Chandani also runs as a shorter 7.5cm tumbler holding 200ml.
