Description
The Cedric is a 330mm diameter pendant light from Hinkley, built around a cylindrical lacquered brass shade with an etched opal glass diffuser at the base. Two E27 sockets inside the shade cast downward task light through the diffuser, while the brass shade reflects ambient light upward. The pendant hangs on a slender brass rod from a matching brass canopy, with a cable run adjustable between 490mm minimum and 1404mm maximum drop.
Designed for kitchen islands, dining tables and bar counters where both task and decorative lighting are needed, the Cedric provides broad 330mm coverage suitable for a single-pendant placement above a 1.2-1.5m table or island section, or as one of two or three pendants spaced evenly above a longer surface. The 390mm fitting height gives the pendant a visible presence without overwhelming domestic ceiling heights of 2.4-2.7m. Each E27 socket accepts bulbs up to 60W, allowing flexibility in choosing LED or filament bulbs to match the required brightness and colour temperature.
The lacquered brass finish is applied to solid metal components, giving the shade a warm, slightly reflective tone that sits between polished brass and brushed brass in sheen level. The etched opal diffuser softens the downward light, reducing glare for anyone seated below while maintaining adequate task brightness for food preparation or dining. The combined metal and glass construction gives the pendant a 2.1kg weight that sits stably on the ceiling fixing without swaying under air movement.

Frequently Asked
What bulbs does it take?
The Cedric has two E27 sockets, each rated to 60W maximum. Bulbs are sold separately. Most users pair this pendant with warm-white LED bulbs between 8-12W and 2700K-3000K for dining or kitchen island task lighting.
How high should it hang above a table or island?
For dining tables, position the pendant 700-800mm above the table surface. For kitchen islands or worktops, 750-900mm clearance allows adequate task light without obstructing sightlines across the island. The 1404mm maximum drop accommodates ceiling heights up to 2.7m with these clearances.
Can multiple Cedric pendants be used together?
Yes. For kitchen islands longer than 1.5m, spacing two or three Cedric pendants at 800-1000mm intervals provides even task coverage. The 330mm diameter allows comfortable spacing without visual crowding.
What other finishes are available?
Hinkley produces the Cedric in several finishes including aged zinc, brushed nickel and lacquered brass. Use the search function or filters at Niori to find other variants in stock.
